Donate by Gift of Securities

Donating publicly traded securities to the Institute for Advancements in Mental Health (IAM) is a way to make an investment in supporting innovative and practical solutions for people living with mental illness and their caregivers. You can also receive double the tax benefits while helping drive change for better mental health.

Under current CRA rules, when you give stocks, bonds, futures and options or shares in mutual funds, you pay no tax on the capital gain and save on out-of-pocket expenses. You will also be eligible for a charitable tax receipt for your donation. Follow these three simple steps to donate your publicly traded securities and help IAM find solutions to unmet mental health challenges:
  1. Download and complete all sections of the Letter of Authorization. You can also send this form to your broker to be completed if you are unsure about your brokerage DTC# & CUID#. Once the form is completed, IAM will need to sign the form.
  2. Send the completed form to your broker or investment advisor, who will initiate the transfer to IAM’s broker (Credential Securities c/o Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital Ltd.). Below is the information your broker or investment advisor will require.
